The late Erma Bombeck would definitely agree with the last one. An instruction to raise kids doesn’t come with a handbook. However, you can learn to get a generalized plan in order to help you cope with it all. So seriously consider using the steps mentioned above, they are a common sense guide for you, the new mom.

Moms today have a very different lifestyle than their mothers and certainly their grandmothers did. More women are working and taking on new responsibilities more than ever before. Due to rising financial costs of everything from a loaf of bread to gasoline, most moms have to work, and a lot of them are underpaid and overworked too. Sadly too many families don’t have the necessary support to help a new mom with the baby because of geographic issues, grandparents or other extended family needing to work too, or because of infirmities.

It doesn’t matter if you’re lucky enough to have a support system in place, you’ve got to realize there will be times that it might not be available for other reasons, so take some more good advice about dealing with time management from this list below.

• Realize some personal activities of fun will need to change or time managed. Take baby along only if it will be pleasurable for you both. A crying baby that is hot and thirsty will not enjoy an open flea market on a hot day in Aug. You’ll want to take the activity into consideration and possibly shorten the specified time you will stay.

• Time management for special occasions will need to be considered. Lengthy celebrations that are adult focused, such as weddings or Christmas parties for example, will probably require you to shorten your stay, or arrange for baby to be cared for by someone else.

• Consider cutting back or taking on new responsibilities before if possible or right after baby comes home. Serious commitments if very involved need to be resolved because others are involved. Either arrange for reliable care or just take on a different role that might not be time consuming.

• Put your new baby on a schedule. This will help things run more smoothly and you will be able to schedule things for your self when you know the baby will be napping.

Life as a mom goes by so fast. Before you know it your child will be grown. You don’t have to give up your whole life when the new baby comes home, but just remember these timeless words of advice are for your benefit.

If something does happen to your time management system just pull out an Erma Bombeck book and have a good laugh!
